Property & Asset Marking

Property and asset marking is supported by the Police and Government, and some insurers offer reduced premiums for contents that are properly marked or at the very least offer reduced excess to policies.

Police Preferred Marking Solutions

We employ a variety of bespoke solutions including DNA asset marking, micro dots, and GPS Tracking. Many of the asset marking systems are
Police preferred specification”.

We have the expertise and capability to service differing needs through our marking solutions which are sensitively applied so as not to damage the aesthetic appearance or monetary value of items.

The Metropolitan police say that there are two main types of property and asset marking, APS can provide all 3 solutions:

1. Permanent Marking

The first is known as permanent property or asset marking, when you etch your property with your street number and postcode, or an approved database phone number and customer code.

2. Invisible Marking (UV Pen)

Second is Invisible property or asset Marking. This is best for antiques or valuable property that would lose value if spoiled by permanent marking. Most, if not all Police Forces now check stolen property with an ultra-violet lamp, so any UV mark can be located. In the past many people used UV pens as an inexpensive way of marking property, but it is important to remember that UV pen marking fades and will need to be renewed regularly. Although you can't see it with the naked eye, invisible marking still works as an excellent deterrent to burglars, but you must use warning labels and window stickers to let thieves know that "property in this home/business has been marked".

3. DNA Marking & Tagging

Now however, there is a third solution, a more sophisticated way to invisibly mark property - DNA Forensic Marking. DNA Security Tagging ServiceTo see more about DNA Marking, please see our dedicated page: DNA FORENSIC MARKING from APS >>
